Revell 1/72 Handley Page Heyford British Biplane Bomber Kit (00002)
The Revell Classics Line is a limited re-issue of select model kits from the 1950s/60s or
70s. In order to ensure that this model kit resembles the original product as closely as
possible, the packaging was made true-to-style using the previous original illustration as
well as original decals. The construction manual in multiple languages contains detailed
assembly instructions. This model kit was produced using the original mold that was
manufactured more than 30 or 40 years ago. Insignificant deviations from the original model
kit (formation of burrs or slightly imperfect fit) can be attributed to the fact that the

The Heyford, the last RAF heavy biplane bomber, served as operational models in 11 squadrons from 1933 to 1938. The bomber had some unusual design features: the cockpit was fixed to the underside of the upper wing, the bomb bay was located in the thickened middle of the underwing and to begin with it also had a retractable gun mount. The manufacturer called this aircraft an "express bomber", not only because it was capable of carrying large bomb loads, but also because of the short time needed for ground maintenance, refuelling and rearming. The prototype flew for the first time in June 1930. Although by 1937 it was already obsolete and was never used at the front, the Heyford remained in use as a trainer. The last two machines were retired from service at the beginning of 1941.
