The Falcon 10 is a successful small business aircraft with comfortable and luxurious interior fittings. This business jet that flew for the first time in 1970 was derived from the Falcon 20, but with numerous improvements and new Garrett TFE 731 turbofans with 1465 kp thrust. This gave it excellent flying characteristics with a high cruising speed, low fuel consumption and long range. The French fleet air arm also uses several Falcon 10s for liaison and transport duties as well as pilot training.

In 1955 by Republic in the USA a heavy fighter-bomber was developed, capabale of carrying a heavy bomb load at low altitudes - the F-105 Thunderchief. The needs of the US Air Force made a two seater version necessary, designated F-105F. During the Vietnam war special aircraft were needed to fight the North Vietnamese missile sites and their guidance radars. The US Air Force reacted by using the available aircraft and updating them with search electronics to detect and attack SAM sites in a program called "Wild Weasel". The F-105F was equiped with state of the art electronics, carried mostly on outboard stations under the wing. It was designated EF-105F. Attacking enemy missile sites meant using a special missile, the AGM-45 Shrike that guided itself into the radar site by riding the enemy radar beam. Since the electronics were carried under the wing, the usefull load was limited and therefore the equipment was housed in semi-cicular pods on both sides of the fuselage, giving the F-105G version its typical appearance.
Top speed was Mach 2.15 at 11.600 m; range 3.330 km.

In the summer of 1944 the German air ministry decided to produce a night fighter version of the AR 234 B-2 jet bomber, the Ar 234 B-2/N. A modified "Magirus" bomb was mounted on the underside of the fuselage together with two forward firing MG 151/20 guns and a rear facing place for the radio operator behind the 2nd fuel tank. The electronic equipment comprised one "Neptune" and one "Naxos" radar plus additional night flying equipment. By 2.12.1944 the first plane had been cleared for flying with full night fighter equipment and made its first flight on 10.12. By 2.12.1944 in Oranienburg two night fighter test units had been set up in parallel and the first revised version of the AR 234 B2/N was allocated to the "Bisping Special Commando". The trials by the unit that had in the meantime been renamed "Commando Bonow Ar 234" ended after a heavy bombardment of Oranienburg on 10th April 1945.

The result of redeveloping the single-engine Ju 52 from 1930 was the Ju 52/3 with 3 engines, offering much more safety.
This type was employed by the German Lufthansa over a long period before it was put into service with the German Luftwaffe as a bomber version in 1934. But she was an interim type only which was mainly used, like during the Spanish Civil War, as a transport aircraft in her early operations.

The Phantom F-4E/F for over two decades has been considered the workhorse of the western air forces. As it was originally developed for use from aircraft carriers, it has a particularly robust structure, which can also withstand heavy damage in combat. Its low-flying characteristics and manoeuvrability were enhanced decisively by aerodynamic improvements such as leading edge slats. For the German Air Force the Phantom was a modern alternative to the Starfighter. The first F-4Fs landed at Wittmundhafen, the home of fighter wing 71 "Richthofen on 7th March 1974. In addition to its primary role as a fighter, the Phantom was given a second role as a tactical combat plane. In addition to JG 71, JG 74 "Mölders" received the Phantom in July 1974 as well as fighter-bomber units Jabo G 36 in Pferdsfeld and Jabo G 36 in Rheine-Hopsten. To upgrade it the F-4F was equipped, among other things, with the new Hughes APG-65 radar system, low-noise engines and launchers for the AIM-120 AMRAAM. The F-4F Phantom will remain dependably in service for the next few years until it is fully superseded by the Eurofighter.

The F4U Corsair was one of the most successful fighter aircraft during World War II. When World War II ended, the jet age began in earnest; the Corsair was one of the very propeller driven fighters to continue in development and production. The F4U-5 was the first version developed and flown after the war, and several sub-variants were produced. The F4U-5 was powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-2800-32W radial engine, power output 2.300 hp, max. speed: 756 km/h (470 mph). Armamend included four 20mm cannons mounted in the wings, and eight optional rockets carried on stub pylons under the outer wing panels. Two bombs or external fuel tanks could be loaded on larger pylons under the center wing section. F4U-5s were used extensively in Korea as night fighters and ground attack aircraft. Many of later models remaining in service with the US Navy and Marine Corps well into the 1950s.

Pilots call the Starfighter a lady - good-looking, elegant, but also a bit impulsive. It demands all of a pilot's attention but can do so much that it's well worth it. When the Luftwaffe introduced the Starfighter in 1962, it was a big leap for all concerned, since they had to catch up with a great deal of aircraft development in such a short time. Even today the capabilities of the Starfighter would be considered admirable; it climbs from ground level to 13,594 metres in only four minutes and 22 seconds; even with two Sidewinders on its wings, it can accelerate from 880 km/h to 2100 km/h in less than four minutes at a height of 10,668 metres; and its maximum rate of climb is 243.8 metres per second. After 25 years of service, the Starfighter was phased out in October 1987. Especially in its later years, some of the F?104Gs sported distinctive markings to commemorate special occasions. For many years the F-104 was the backbone of NATO's air power. The Dutch Air Force also had 138 planes in its inventory

The MiG 15bis is one of the best known and most successful fighters of all time. It was built from German data by Artem Mikoyan and Mikhail Gurevich after World War II. The first prototype flew on 30th December 1947 and series production of the MiG15 began in 1949. The new Soviet fighter proved itself to be extremely manoeuvrable and with excellent flying and climbing capabilities. The machine was also very robust and easy to control. At the beginning of the Korean War on 25th June 1950 the MiG 15 was also supplied to North Korea and very soon presented the greatest danger to the American B-29 bombers. East Germany also received planes of Soviet production in March 1953 for their air force. 102 MiG 15s still in their packing cases were later used by JG-1 in Holzdorf/Brandenburg and also by FAG 2 in Preschen/Brandenburg. In addition to purely military applications, numerous aerobatic teams were also equipped with the MiG 15bis. One from the famous Kubinka team flew at the Tushino air show in 1951.

The Bell UH-1 Iroquois - better know as the Huey - gained fame when it was used by the American forces in the Vietnam War of the sixties. It became an irreplaceable piece of modern battlefield equipment that saw rescue, troop transport and armed escort duty. When the heavy machine guns, rocket pods and nose mounted grenade launcher were introduced, the UH-1B and C received the nickname "Huey Hog". It was also flown by the Marine Corps as the UH-1E.

In 1961 the Bölkow Bo 105 (later MBB = Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm) was the first major helicopter programme in Germany after World War II. Due to its unsurpassed manoeuvrability the Bo 105 was not only in demand for civil applications; it also very quickly aroused the interest of the military. German Army ordered 227 of Bo 105 VBH (Verbindungs-Hubschrauber = scouting, liaison and communications helicopter) and 212 of Bo 105 PAH anti-tank helicopter. The Bo 105 PAH 1 is equipped with 6 HOT Euro missiles, which are installed in two fuselage-mounted launcher packs, and it also has a roof-mounted optical sight on the right hand side of the fuselage. As a liaison helicopter - VBH - the Bo 105 meets all the requirements for a light, economical transport helicopter.

The "Spirit of St Louis" is without doubt the most famous aircraft of all time, designed and built with one aim only: the NON-STOP transatlantic crossing from New York to Paris. After numerous unsuccessful attempts by other pilots, on 20th May 1927, Charles Lindberg took off from New York for this world-shattering event. He covered a distance of over 3,600 miles (5972 km) in 33.5 hours and on 21st May 1927 he landed at Paris, Le Bourget, where he was met with great acclaim.
