| > Plastic Kits > Aircraft & Helicopters > Revell & Monogram > 1/48 Aircraft Kits | Revell 1/48 JU87B-2 Stuka (04564) There is hardly any other aircraft that became a flying legend so soon after it went into service. From the start, the Junkers Ju 87 was the embodiment of a new type of weapon, the dive bomber. Feared by its opponents, for the German soldiers the Stuka was the flying artillery. The Ju 87 was first tested in the Spanish Civil War, when it became apparent that it was underpowered. At the beginning of World War II, the new and now considerably more powerful version of the Ju 87 received a 1200 hp Jumo 211 DA engine. Known as the B-2, the new aircraft went into active service in the summer of 1940 and by the spring of 1941 over half of all the Stuka units were equipped with the Ju 87B-2. Despite initial successes, the Ju 87 was always a controversial aircraft - it was very well suited to the missions for which it was intended, but it was also too heavy, too slow and an easy prey for fighters. Model-details: - Detailed surfaces with flush metal joints - Detailed cockpit with distinctive internal wall panels - Instrument panel - Rear MG - Detailed radiator area - Movable propeller - Detailed landing gear - One detailed SC 500 bomb - 4 SC 50 bombs - Decals for 2 Luftwaffe versions
