The A-37 Dragonfly is a small but extremely powerful ground attack aircraft, developed from the renowned T-37 trainer. Low costs, outstanding manoeuvrability, low maintenance and a large weapon-load, together with easy handling made it an ideal aircraft for guerilla warfare, which was also used as light combat and reconnaissance aircraft. The minigun in the nose has a capacityof 6000 rounds per minute and a total of 2.5 tons can be carried on the external pylons. The A-37A was uprated in 1967 and was used extensively in Vietnam. The somewhat more powerful A-37B with air-refuelling probe, went into service in May 1968. It is still in service today with many other air forces. Maximum speed 816 km/h.
