Revell 1/32 Tornado ECR (04718)
The Tornado ECR is one of the most effective NATO weapons systems for electronic combat and
reconnaissance. Already in 1985 there was in existence a concept for the Tornado ECR that
differed considerably rom normal fighter-bombers, which has been flown by No. 1 Squadron of
German Fighter-Bomber Group 32 since May 1991. Compared with the fighter-bomber version,
the Tornado ECR was equipped with additional systems and sensors to enable it to undertake
its roles in the fields of electronic warfare and tactical reconnaissance. The ELS (Emitter
Locator System) can pick up, identify and locate radar systems as a passive sensor. To
attack the targets the weapons system is armed with the AGM 88 B "HARM" guided missile. In
July 1995 Fighter-Bomber Group 32 transferred a contingent to Piacenza, Italy in order to
carry out the first German Air Force combat mission since the end of World War II, within
the framework of UN and NATO peacekeeping measures over Bosnia-Herzegovina and in Kosovo in
1999. Since 1996 No. 1 Squadron has been a fully active member of the NATO Tiger
Association and has given impressive demonstrations of its performance and commitment at
various tiger meets. Further evidence of its high level of involvement in the Tiger
Association are the ever more original special liveries that it has worn at the meetings,
each one a labour of love by the Squadron that serves to enhance its public image.
