Revell 1/32 Mig 21 SPS/MF Fishbed (04719)
During its service life the MiG 21 was used throughout the world like no other military
aircraft. For a long time it was the standard fighter used by the air forces of the Warsaw
Pact states and proved itself as a successful fighter-interceptor and fighter-bomber. It is
the successor to the MiG 15 and MiG 17 and 19 and went into service with the Soviet air
forces in 1960/61. This extremely high-performance fighter won several records, such as a
speed record of 2,388 km/h in 1959 and an altitude record of 34,714 m in 1961. The MiG 21
received its baptism of fire in the Vietnam War and in the wars in the Near East. Over time
it was continually improved and adapted to current operational conditions, giving rise to
versions such as the SPS that was introduced in 1964. The MF version was equipped with a
more powerful engine and upgraded electronics, together with a modern radar system. The
Turmansky R-13- 300 turbojet engine with 6,600 kp thrust gave it a maximum speed of Mach
2.1 at 11,000 m. The MiG 21 SPS, nicknamed the "White Shark" by Fighter Squadron 1, is a
representative of this type with one of the most attractive special liveries.
