The two seat high performance glider Duo Discus built by Schempp-Hirth, is a widely used trainer and is also flown during numerous championships. The Discus fisrt flew in 1993 and has been in production since. The lightly upward bent wings have a 20 meter span and consist of four parts. The aft pilot is seated close to the center of gravity. Its glide ratio is a remarkable 44, which explains the high degree of recognition of the glider. The Duo Discus can reach maximum speeds of 250 km per hour. Its empty weight is about 430 kilo and the landing gear is retractable.
