more | Revell 1/28 Spad XIII (04730)
The French SPAD XIII introduced in 1917 was one of the most important fighter planes of World War I. Well-known fighter pilots such as Eddie Rickenbacker, Georges Guynemer, René Fonck and Frank Luke achieved great successes in it. Louis Blériot (owner of the firm S.P.A.D.), together with his designer, created the Spad XIII as an advance on the Spad VII. It was powered by the new Hispano-Suiza engine, a 235 hp water-cooled in-line engine capable of climbing to 2,000 metres in five and a half minutes. The armament consisted of 2 Vickers MGs. It saw service with 92 French squadrons, 2 Royal Flying Corps and 5 US Air Groups. From 1918 almost all the Allied air forces were equipped with the Spad XIII.

more | Revell 1/166 Convair Tradewind 1950's Military Cargo Plane (H-178) It has also been called "The Flying LST" and was the largest water-based aircraft ever built by Convair. Powered by four 5,500 hp Allison T-40 turbo-prop engines, the R3Y-2 had a cruising range of more than 2,000 miles and a top speed of more than 350 mph. One of the major features of the R3Y-2 version of the aircraft was the swing up bow, which allowed vehicles and cargo to be landed right on the beach. For assault operations, the R3Y-2 landed in off-shore waters and taxied to the beach. As the hull touched the beach, the bow went up, a ramp came down and the cargo was landed at the point of operation. To pull off the beach, the pilot simply reversed the propellers and backed away. A thirty-second taxi run lifted the eighty ton plane into the air for its return. The Tradewind could carry 24 tons of cargo. This meant that four 155 mm howitzers, three 2.5 ton trucks, six jeeps, two half-trucks or several other types of military equipment could be delivered to the scene of action. It could also be equipped with 103 rearward facing seats for normal transport operation, or could be set up to handle 92 litter patients and 12 attendants, if it was needed as a hospital evacuation plane. This new aircraft was the result of 25 years of experience by Convair in the development of water-based aircraftmore..
more | Revell 1/113 B-47 Stratojet 1950's American Bomber (H-206) The first operational jet bomber of the United States Air Force, the Boeing B-47 Stratojet Bomber was called the fastest known bomber in the world even though details of the giant plane's performance were classified U.S.A.F. information. "A medium bomber in the 600 mile-per-hour class" was the official description of the swept-wing experimental B-47 which shattered transcontinental speed records in 1949 by covering the 2,289 miles from Larson (Moses Lake) Air Force Base in central Washington to Andrews AFB, Maryland, in three hours and 46 minutes. Average speed was 607.8 m.p.h. When the initial production model Stratojets rolled from Boeing's Wichita, Kansas, factory the following year, one was already working on an increased speed potential. Later, the B-47's six General Electric jet engines had been replaced by more powerful G. E. J-47 engines. The thrust had been increased by 1,800 pounds each, building to a total of 34,800 pounds. More than 20,000 pounds of bombs made up a single load for this immense craft whose wingspan extended 116 feet with a 35 degree sweepback. Standing 27 feet, 11 inches high, the B-47 had a fuselage length of 106 feet, 8 inches. Maximum takeoff weight was 185,000 pounds. A three-man crew - pilot, co-pilot and navigator-bombardier - could depend on a service ceiling over 40,000 feet and a range of 3,000 miles. Its only armament was two 50 caliber machine guns in a tail turretmore..
more | Revell 1/122 Douglas DC-7 Plastic Kit (04242)
The Douglas DC-7C "Seven Seas", together with the Constellation, was the last airliner to be produced with piston engines. It was designed to meet the requirements of Pan American for use non-stop on the transatlantic routes. With 62 passengers and a maximum range of 9,076 km, the DC-7C was the best equipped for this task. It made its first flight on 20th December 1955. The DC-7C was based on the DC-7B. Its range enabled the SAS, for example, to overfly the North Pole for the first time on a route from Copenhagen to Tokyo in just 30 hours on 24th February 1957. The first DC-7C built for Pan American was delivered on 5th November 1956. Altogether 121 DC-7Cs were built.
