The SEPECAT Jaguar was a joint Anglo-French project. It first took to the air in 1968 and, since then, 202 of them have seen service with the RAF and another 200 with the Arm e de l Air. It has also achieved a certain success on the export front. The reduced surface area of the wing gives excellent low altitude performance and this, together with its considerable weapons payload, makes it a feared ground strike aircraft, as demonstrated in conflicts in Chad and Iraq. Thirty-eight of the two-seater trainer versions were purchased by the RAF and another 40 by the Arm e de l Air.
