more | Academy 1/48 Hispano HA-112 "Buchon" (12203)
The HA-1112 is a Spanish-built version of the famous Bf109G fighter. With no German engines available after 1945, the Hispano-Suiza engines powered early post-war versions. Later versions used the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. Altogether there were nine different Spanish variants using either of the two engines. Production ceased in the Spring of 1961. The installation of the upright V-12 engine makes the nose contours of the HA-1112 quite different from those of the original BF109G, hence its nickname Buchon. The Buchon are popular performers and are among the only surviving examples of the famous German aircraft that can be seen in the air. The legacy lives on with Academy’s Hispano HA-1112 in 1/48 scale. From the razorback canopy to the nose contours, this kit is a bona fide replica of the Spanish bird. Comes with detailed cockpit and landing gear, as well as fully engraved panel lines and rivet details. Accurate decals for Spanish and German Air Force included. Model Length 7.5 inches, Wingspan 8.1 inches. Plastic cement and paint are required for assembly, and are sold separately. | |

The CH-46 Sea Knight was first procured in 1964 to meet the medium-lift combat assault requirements of the United States Marine Corp in Viet Nam. It was to replace piston-engine types then in use. The CH-46 was a versatile workhorse with the capability to transport Marines ashore during an amphibious invasion and to move equipment, weapons and supplies. An initial purchase of 266 CH-46A's for the Marines was followed by 24 UH-46A's for the U.S. NAVY. Production continued in subsequent years, along with modifications to improve some of the CH-46's characteristics. With service in SE Asia came installation of guns and armor along with uprated engines. Externally similar to the CH-46A, the improved CH-46D featured a longer tail pylon. During it's service in VietNam the CH-46 was often flown without some or all of it's round cabin windows. The U.S. Marines received 266 improved CH-46D's with 10 UH-46D's going to the NAVY. | |
