Academy 1/48 RAF Hawker Hunter FGA9 Jet Fighter (2169)

The Hawker Hunter was one of the most successful and widely used swept-wing transonic fighter during 1950-60s.
It was designed and directed by the reonwned British designer sir Sydney Camm in 1948 as a day fighter replacement for the Gloster Meteor. The Hunter first flew in prototype form on July 1951, and first series production F.1 entered service in July 1954.

The Hunter FGA.9 was the ground attack variant using the more powerful Rolls-Royce Avon 207 engine which has alrger thrust than the Avon 203 of F.6 model, for greater payload and range. This new variant received the strengthened wings and pylons to cope with to assist in short field operations.

Nearly 2000 Hunters of all types were built, while at least 700 were refurbished after service and resold as export orders for foreign air forces.
