First flown on 22nd April 1958, the Vertol Model 107 was designed for civil and military use, and with the capability of landing on water without the use of special flotation gear. It is in widespread service, and has been licence-built in Japan by Kawasaki, who supplied many of Sweden's HKp.4 versions from 1964.

Employed in submarine detection, mine-sweeping, and the search and rescue roles, the Swedish Navy HKp.4s will remain in service until the end of the century. The basically similar UK-46A Sea Knight is a utility version of the standard CH-46, serving with the U.S. Navy, and is used primarily for transferring ammunition and general supplies around the fleets at sea. The type is powered by two General Electric T58 turbines of 1250 shaft horse power, giving a maximum speed of approximately 165mph (264Km/hr). Fuselage length is 44ft 7in. (13.6m.), overall length over the rotors being 83ft 4in (25.4m.) Sea Knights are flown by the US Navy for the vertical replenishment of the ships at sea and by the US Marine corps for the assault and utility duties. This kit features an opening rear door, movable rotors and USN markings.
