This special limited edition item is to celebrate the Yamaha Motor Company s 50th
Anniversary in 2005. The addition of Cartograf decals to the YZR500 kit allows modelers to
build the Akai Yamaha YZR500
The 1/12 scale model depicts the actual motorcycle s characteristic features, such as
2-cycle water-cooled 4-cylinder engine and monocross suspension and includes parts to
accurately reproduce Akai Yamaha s Dymag wheels. The all new high quality Cartograf decals
reproduce the Akai Yamaha YZR500. The Model includes 2 sets of markings to depict Sheene s
bike at the 1980 MotoGP and the TBC Big Road Race
Legendary British motorcycle racer, Barry Sheene, raced in the 1980 World Grand Prix on a Yamaha YZR500 sponsored by Akai. The bike s stylish color scheme of red lines on a black base caught the attention of many fans at the time, and has remained a favorite over the years. After the finish of the WGP season, Sheene amazed Japanese motorcycle fans with his performance at the TBC Big Road Race.
