The origins of the Honda Monkey can be traced back to a children s ride at Honda s Tama Tech amusement park in the early 1960s. Sporting a red frame, white fuel tank, small 5 inch tires, and a 50cc SOHC 4-stroke engine, riders of these spunky little bikes were said to have a simian appearance, thus the bike was popularly known as the Monkey. Honda decided to develop the bike into a commercial model in 1967 and was an immediate hit, with its adorable compact image generating a worldwide fan base.
