The business started in 1925 by Walter Malcom was as a coal merchant, operating with a horse and cart. Walter died in 1934 and his business was carried on by his widow Marion until his son Donald left school aged 14 in 1939. At this time only one vehicle was operated.The growth of the business was due to Donald's hard work and vision. Today the Malcom Group has become a leading provider of logistics and construction services, employing over 1600 people, 450 trucks, 1000 trailers and 120 items of heavy plant.
