Auto Art 1/12 Mercedes CLK GTR (12011)

Model has been reduced to £190 due to some wear around end flaps on box, otherwise model is in A1 condition.

1:12 scale always makes for an impressive model and this die cast model of the Mercedes CLK GTR really is a work of art. Removeable engine cover reveals a finely detailed engine with burnt exhaust pipes, front panel lfts off to show the suspension system, doors open to show the full race cabin, the only thing missing is your coffee table to show off this superb model!

Mercedes' competitor in the FIA GT championship in 1997! The CLK GTR's were entered in mid-season, yet could secure the FIA GT1 world championship title for driver (Bernd Schneider) despite their late arrival. The main opposition was the Porsche 911 GT1 and McLaren F1 GTR, both of which were older designs.For the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans race, an evolution version called Mercedes-Benz CLK LM was introduced, which was even lower, and had a V8 engine that was supposed to be lighter and more efficient. The car #35 driven by Bernd Schneider, Mark Webber and Klaus Ludwig scored the Pole position, yet in the race, both cars had to retire early due to oil pressure problems in the new, untested engine. This gave the Porsche 911 GT1-98 its only win in that year, as the Mercedes dominated all FIA GT races in 1998, winning world champion titles for Klaus Ludwig and teammate Ricardo Zonta alike.
