Murphy Models OO CIE Mk.2 EGV Generator Van 5601 Galway Livery (MM5601)

The Irish Railways Mk.2 coaches were built by British Rail Engineering to designs based on the BR Mk.2D air conditioned coach, hence the visual similarity between the BR and CIE coaches. Ordered in 1972 these comfortable air conditioned coaches remained the IEs'primary express stock throughout the 1970s and early 80s.
Unlike British Rail service where train power was supplied from the locomotive IE had purpose-built power generator coaches. The Mk.2 coaches operated with one of these EGV generator vans containing two diesel generators to provide electric power for the air conditioning and other on-train services, two generators being employed to ensure power was still available in the event of one set failing.

Ideal for service with Murphy Models 141/181, 071 and 201 class locomotives.

Detailed model of IE Mk.2 EGV generator coach 5601 painted in the distinctive Galway livery to match the set of coaches in this livery.
