Normal HST train formations has 7 or 8 coaches between the two power car locomotives. Typical formations were Western Region London services (7 coaches) 2 x first class (TFO) - Buffet - 3 x second class (TSO) - second class with guards' office (TGS) East Coast route (8 coaches) 2 x first class (TFO) - Buffet - 4 x second class (TSO) - second class with guards' office (TGS) Cross-Country services (7 coaches) 1 x first class (TFO) - Buffet - 4 x second class (TSO) - second class with guards' office (TGS) Many Western region sets were later extended to 8 coaches in the same formation as the East Coast trains. Even in N gauge a 7-coach formation is over 4-feet long, so some compromise is often necessary! Below you will find additional coaches which will extend your HST trains to the limits your layout can contain.
