Bachmann OO Pillar Type Riveted Locomotive Water Tank Scenecraft Range (44-037)

A ready built and painted resin model of a typical circular water tank. These water tanks were used in locations where only one or two locomotives would require replenishment. The central pillar allowed the tank to be accomodated easily between two tracks and on platform ends.

Ideal for use with branchline stations and small locomotive sheds.

Until the 1960s urgent mail was collected and distributed in rural areas using lineside enchange traductors to transfer mailbags to and from a moving post office train.
Mailbags were hung from arms, which held the bags close slongside the passing train, to be snatched up by a retractable folding net extended from the train. Drops were made from the train by a similar arm mechanism, from whcih the mailbags were collected by a similar lineside net.

This lineside accessory includes the delivery hanger arms, cacth net and a shelter for the local postman, protection from the weather and from flying debris kicked up by the fast mail train.

Styled during the 1930s these art-deco buildings were a feature of the expanding Southern and London Transport electrified networks. The circular-ended design still looks clean and attractive today.

These semi-circular buildings conating waiting rooms feature a semi-circular canopy, marking the end of the canopy structure. One would be constructed at each end of the platform. Measures 117 x 50 x 113

Bachmann OO Concrete Locomotive Coaling Tower (44-070)

Bachmann have announced that they will be producing a detailed model of the LMS design concrete locomotive coaling tower, closely based on the sole remaining example at Carnforth engine shed. This coaling tower is still standing, a prominant landmark at a depot still used to maintain and service steam locomotives operating on the mainline, making this model suitable for modellers of the current railway scene.

This model has been designed to serve two tracks and allow up to 4 steam engines to be coaled at once. The model will be supplied complete with prototypical control cabins, which accomodated the weighing and recording equipment, and a non-working wagon lifting cradle is also included with the model. A light texture finish will be applied to simulate the concrete construction of the original with painting and weathering applied by hand. Catwalks, handrails and ladders will also be included. Bachmann OO Depot Hoist & Crane from Scenecraft (44-072)

An overhead hoist crane with heavy steel supporting girders and corrugated iron covered machinery huts. This hoist appears to be based on examples found at major locomotive depots for undretaking minor repairs. The hoist could lift a locomotive at one end sufficiently for the wheels to be rolled out. A small block-and-tackle hoist is attached to allow heavy components like side rods to be lifted and positioned alongside the engine.

Bachmann OO Concrete Ash Storage Tower (44-086)

To match the concrete locomotive coaling plant Bachmann are releasing a detailed model of the locomotive ash storage tower from the same period. Closely based on the sole remaining example at Carnforth engine shed, the ash tower was used to store locomotive ash and dump this into open wagons positioned beneath. This mechanical handling saved a lot of back-breaking shovelling. Waiting rooms were an important feature of railway stations throught the steam era. and still welcomed by passengers today. The waiting room provided shelter from the wind and rain, usually heated with a coal fire in winter, allowing passengers to wait for their trains in the comfort a Victorian lady expected.
