Oxford Diecast 1/76 Swan Motors RT Bus (RT024)
In the 1920 s Swan Motors had two ancient buses named Naboth and The Old Swan , with
regular services from Bishopston via Murton. The company was swallowed up by the United
Welsh Services Swansea in 1952. Some vehicles were taken into stock and repainted. United
Welsh were taken over in 1971 by South Wales Transport Co Ltd and today they operate as
part of First Bus."
The advertising on one side shows Macowards which was a well-known Swansea department
store, which operated on the premises that had originally been set up by John S Brown an
ironmongers in 1893. Between 1929 and 1960 it became Macowards. The ornate facade has
hardly changed in all that time, an impressive tower has been removed from the centre
section on the roof but the lions still remain. The other side has Co-op advertising.
