W Britain British Gurkha Falklands 1982

Respected by Britain's allies and feared by its enemies, the Gurkhas reputation precedes them wherever they deploy. Whilst technically a standard infantry unit, the Gurkha Rifles' legendary toughness, skill and tenacity earned them status of an elite fighting force. The Gurkhas were deployed to the Falklands during the 1982 conflict. Despite having to deal with a completely foreign climate, landscape and the Antarctic weather, the Gurkhas were well up for a fight; only to be disappointed when the Argentine units they were to face surrendered when they learned it was the Gurkhas coming for them

WBritain 1/30 British SAS World War II Figure 1942 24005

W Britain British SAS World War II Figure 1942

Founded by then Lt. David Stirling during World War II. It was originally designed as a long-range desert patrol group to conduct raids and sabotage far behind enemy lines, and operated in conjunction with the existing Long Range Desert Group. Stirling (formerly of No.8 Commando), looked for recruits with rugged individualism and initiative and recruited specialists from Layforce and other units. The name "Special Air Service" was meant as a deception. Their first mission in support of Field Marshal Claude Auchinleck's attack in November 1941 was a disaster. Only 22 out of 62 troopers reached the rendezvous. Stirling still managed to organize another attack against the German airfields at Aqedabia, Site and Agheila. They destroyed 61 enemy aircraft without a single casualty.
