Hobby Master 1/72 Lockheed F-16A Fighting Falcon E-198, Danish Air Force HA3852
The F-16 Fighting Falcon was produced by General Dynamics who became Lockheed who then merged with Martin Marietta to become Lockheed Martin. The F-16 entered service in January 1979 as a multi-role jet fighter that evolved into an all-weather multi-role aircraft capable of sustaining 9-g turns. The F-16 is relatively inexpensive to purchase and maintain so the U.S. and 25 other countries added it to their inventory. The Fighting Falcon is referred to by its pilots as the “Viper” and will remain in USAF service until 2025.
The Kongelige Danske Flyvevaaben (Royal Danish Air Force) received the first of their F-16’s on January 28, 1980. The first KDF squadrons to replace their F-100’s with the F-16 were Eskadrilles 727 and 730 based at Skrystrup. Lockheed F-16A Block 10B 78-0198 was manufactured under license by SABCA of Belgium and delivered to the KDF Esk 727 on October 21, 1981 as E-198. Sometime after 1989 the aircraft went through the MLU process (Mid Life Upgrade) and on September 1, 2010 was placed in storage at Aalborg AB.
