A line of cottages modelled on the 'snow huts' at Dent on the Settle to Carlisle railway.
These snow huts were built to provide temporary accomodation for track gangs engaged on snow clearance work at this remote Pennine station where there were few other dwellings. Crews could rest, eat and sleep comfortably in these 'huts'. Today the Dent snow huts have been converted into very pleasant holiday cottages.
The line of huts could easily be used as a line of railwaymens' or farm workers houses.
