This Leyland appliance with German made Metz 100ft ladder was delivered to Morecambe and Heysham Fire Brigade in June 1938 and was one of only two to be fitted with a limousine cab. After World War 2 the machine became part of Lancashire County Fire Brigades fleet until used for maintenance duties at Blackpool's famous tower. After many years in storage the machine was restored and can now be seen on display outside a hotel in the town of Leyland, its original place of birth. The attractive colour scheme sees our model with red body, dark blue bonnet, black cab roof and cream ladders and ladder wheel mounting. The rotation guide and chain on the wheel mounting is also black. A liberal amount of chrome to the bell, window frames, headlights and radiator surround, combined with red/ red and silver wheel inserts and silver coachlines round the mudguards brightens the model even further. The cab interior is black and the exterior doors feature the Borough crest with No. 5 printed in silver beneath, while silver lettering along the length of the body denotes the appliance as belonging to the Borough of Morecambe & Heysham Fire Brigade. Registered DTB 152, it also adds another fire brigade to our UK geographical spread.
