Hobby Master 1:32 Scale Models

Highly detailed large scale aircraft models
Grumman F6F-3 Hellcat 'Minsi II', Commander David McCampbell’s second 'Minsi', finished as flying from USS Essex in 1944.
The Hellcat made its combat debut August 1943 and in two years carrier based F6Fs are credited with downing 4,947 aircraft. If land based and Marine Hellcat kills are added it brings the total to 5,156, an incredible figure. This total represents 80% of all kills giving a kill–to-loss ratio of 19 to 1, another outstanding achievement.

Highly detailed large scale model of the Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat fighter aircraft finished as Lt.(jg) Robert Burnell's 'Paper Doll', as flown by Lt. Carl Brown Jr. from USS Princeton during the Battle of Leyte Gulf, 24th October 1944. Intercepting an incoming Japanese force Lt. Brown claimed 5 'kills' before landing a damaged 'Paper Doll' on USS Essex. The damaged Hellcat was later pushed overboard to make room for more aircraft.
On April 4, 1944 the new F6F-5 took to the air. It was a much improved version of the F4F Wildcat. The designers gave the new plane a redesigned engine cowl for the engine that was now water-injected. The injection increased take off performance by 10% and increased the armament capabilities. Production of the F6F-5 lasted until November 1945 when Grumman had rolled out more than 900 “5”s.

Designed as a light bomber and reconnaissance aircraft, various versions of the Dauntless served during the war with the US Marine Corps, Army and Navy. The Douglas was the only plane to fight in every major Pacific engagement. The SBD-3, sarcastically nicknamed 'Speedy Three', entered service in March 1941 with production ending in July 1944, by which time a total of 5,936 had been built in all versions.
This large and highly detailed model is finished in the paint and lettering carried by VB-16 aircraft White 39 flown by Lt. Cook Cleland from USS Lexington during the Battle of the Philippine Sea in June 1944.
