Lionheart GWR 45xx/4575 2-6-2 Prairie Tanks

The compact and powerful Churchward 45xx 2-6-2 prairie tank. This model is continuing under the Lionheart banner, reflecting the predominant use of metal in the construction versus the plastic body moulded shells of the Dapol range locomotives. Development is intentionally longer as effort is concentrated on the main Dapol range, but this allows even more research to be done and incorporated.  This batch is designed to model the curved drop front locomotives with larger bunkers, 4540 to 4554 with rear frame extensions and 4555 to 4574 built new with full length frames.
Nov 2023 update - Model expected to go to production around the end of 2024 with delivery end Q1 to Q2 2024 (guesstimate April-May).
The Lionheart Trains models are designed to be a premium model with extensive use of diecast techniques, complemented with fine detail moulded from plastic and wire handrails. The tooling is designed to replicate the many changes made to locomotives over their working lives, the major changes needing a completely revised model. This model will replicates one of the early build Churchward class 45xx 'flat top' engines as modified with frame extensions and enlarged bunker.
Model finished as number 4545 in British Railways plain black livery with early lion over wheel emblems.

The GWR 45xx and 4575 class locomotive models are continuing to be produced under the Lionheart Trains banner, reflecting the predominant use of metals in the construction vs the plastic body moulded shells of Dapol range models.
The next batch is designed to model the curved drop front 4540 to 4554 with large bunker and rear frame extensions and 4555 to 4574 built new with full length frames.

The finished models will be detailed and liveried as appropriate for the time periods.
