USS Albermarle, a Curtiss-class seaplane tender based in the Atlantic for most of WW2, was modified to assist in the 1958 trials of the Martin Seamaster, a jet-powered flying boat in the Caribbean. The stern ramp and the removal of the after crane were the major external differences from her WW2 appearance.
