> OO9 Narrow Gauge

Narrow gauge model railways offer a huge range and variety of prototypes and examples, from temporary contractors' lines through industrial and quarry operations to well-engineered passenger carrying railways. The Peco track range offers two styles of track, 'crazy track' with rough-hewn timbers for temporary or industrial railways and square-cut regular sleepers for passenger carrying lines.
The recent introduction of ready-to-run models for the popular Lynton and Barnstaple Railway which crossed scenic Exmoor and announcement of a model of that lines' sturdy Manning Wardle 2-6-2 tank engines will make OO9 modelling even more attractive.

Models of narrow gauge trains are scaled for use alongside OO and HO scale standard gauge model trains, but designed to run on 9mm N gauge track. British outline models are described as OO9, OO scale for 9mm gauge track, European models are described as HOe, HO scale but running on the same 9mm gauge track. Due to the size of the models, great variety in prototypes and the widespread sale of locomotives through agents across Europe the two scales and design styles can be mixed to create an interesting roster of models.

stock info	Heljan OO9 Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Manning Wardle 2-6-2 Tank Engine () Newly Announce Ready-to-Run Model Heljan have announced that they are working on a detailed ready to run model of the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway Manning Wardle 2-6-2 side tank engines. Initial models are expected to be of Yeo, Exe and Taw, probably with the later cab roof position to allow for both late L&B and Southern Railway liveries to be produced. It is anticipated that a straight-backed version would be produced later, as Lew and the newly built Lyd. It is intended that the models will negotiate a 12in radius curve, allowing the model to run through Peco OO9 and N streamline points. It is anticipated that development time for this model will be in the region of 12 to 18 months, so production is likely to be late 2014 at the earliest. Pricing to be confirmed. more... more	HOe Roco 0-6-0 Tank Loco Epoch 3 (33241) A nicely detailed model of a small German design 0-6-0 narrow gauge engine. One of a small number of ready to run OO9 or HOe locomotives this engine is a good way to get trains moving on a OO9 layout. Although of a design for industrial shunting and contractors railways many narrow gauge lines in Europe employed engines like this as these were quite capable of hauling the short trains at the sedate speeds required. Narrow gauge engines were much more mobile than mainline standard gauge locomotives, often being considered as industrial plant. A number of German built engines were employed in the UK, some being brought back after WW1 or purchased for rapid delivery. more	Liliput HOe Zillertalbahn 1 0-6-2 Tank Locomotive (L141484) A nicely detailed model of the Zillertalbahns' smaller 0-6-2 tank engine number 1. The smaller Austrian 0-6-2 tank engines have pleasing lines, remininiscent of some of the larger engines built for British narrow gauge lines. This engine is very similar to many of the class 298 locomotives used by the Austrian narrow gauge railways. This narrow gauge starter set features a small diesel locomotive painted in British Army green along with two flat wagons with bomb loads.
