Navis Neptun 1/1250 26N SMS Goeben German WW1 Battlecruiser last battlecruiser to be scrapped
A 1/1250 scale metal model of the Goeben in 1912 by Navis Neptun 26N.
The German battlecruiser Goeben was bottled up in the Mediterranean at the outbreak of WW1, she escaped to Turkey with the cruiser Breslau and continued to harry allied shipping until the end of the war. In 1918, she was officially sold to Turkey as "Yavuz" and survived until long after WW2, the very last battlecruiser in the world to be scrapped.
Goeben was the longest-lived battlecruiser, surviving until the 1970s as the Turkish "Yavuz".
