Airfix 1/72 Saab Draken (Gift Set) (92039)
Over 500 Saab Drakens have been delivered to the Swedish Air Force for interceptor and strike duties. The Danish Air Force also adopted the aircraft for use in the fighter-bomber and reconnaissance roles. The Draken prototype flew in 1955 and the first versions were in service in 1960; since then continuous development has increased performance and armament. The "double delta" wing was chosen to combine the Mach 2 top speed with the ability to land and take-off from the stretches of road used in Sweden as emergency airfields. The 35F Draken is armed with Falcon missiles and two 30mm cannon and powered by a Swedish-built-Rolls-Royce Avon. Wing span 30ft 10in.
