Early 2007 different speculations on a V8-model emerged from Modena but they didn't even come close to the new 8-cylinder model. As usual, this car has been developed by Pininfarina a 2+2 roadster and a lot of attention was paid to the aerodynamics. The result is a very aesthetic and at the same time enormously streamlined work of art. In breaking with its tradition, the California does not have a central engine but instead is equiped with an 8-cylinder, 4,3 liter engine in the front, an absolute world premiere. This resulted in a roomier passenger compartment which also improved the general driveability. Also worth mentioning is the F1 Trac Evoluzione traction control system, originating from the Formula 1 and which determines the necessary optimum grip. Result: a 20 percent faster acceleration out of of a curve. Its seven-speed gear box accelerates it from 0 to 100 in just 4 seconds
