The Ferrari 365 GTB was exhibited to the public for the first time at the Paris Motor Show in October 1968. The enthusiastic public christened the car "Daytona" in memory of the triumph the Ferraris had in the previous year in the 24-hour race of the same name. As usual Pininfarina was responsible for the design. He succeeded in creating a harmonious overall appearance with classic, aggressively sporty, but also functional lines. The 365 GTB weighing 1625 kg had a 4.4 litre V12 front engine with four overhead camshafts. Its excellent handling characteristics were largely attributable to a very balanced weight distribution. The Ferrari offered 352 bhp at 7500 rpm and reached a top speed of 279 kph.
