This superbly restored Bedford OB coach registered LTA 906, fleet number 1430 was new to Southern National in the late forties. Now privately owned it is still in service and is a popular attraction at rallies, its blinds show the vehicle is on "Tour". 

In the more standard livery fleet number 74 complements the  last Titan from this popular fleet. The model captures RMO 74Y working route 17 to The Three Tuns, Wokingham Road. 

A new combination of roof box and entrance door makes this Bristol RELH Coach a first. Registered YHK 725F this vehicle was part of the popular Eastern National coach fleet, fleet number PL 408 can be seen operating a “Day Tour”. 

Of the four buses, the Bristol Lodekka FS attracted the most votes and this appears in the popular livery of Lincolnshire Road Car - a bus that has actually been meticulously restored.
Presented in bespoke anniversary packagine, each model in the bus range includes a wood effect plinth, a replica timetable or route map, the Corgi Anniversay booklet and a number limited edition certificate.

Southdown Motor Services Ltd. On the 14th March 1968, the BET Company sold its bus interests to the government who already owned former Tilling group companies and this led to the formation of the NBC on 1st January 1969. From this date Southdown became a subsidiary company of the NBC and the BH&D fleet was amalgamated under a common general managership.

"Brighton & Hove" Lodekka FS6B . The advent of the Bristol Lodekka in 1949 was a significant step forward in double deck design and represented the final evolution of the front engined bus. Built by Bristol with bodies by eastern Coachworks of Lowestoft, a total of just over 5200 were built of various types until production ceased in 1968. the F series (flat floor) began production in 1959 and our model represents the FS (short) version which had either platform doors or open platform.

From 1904 until 1928 Maidstone Corporation used trams for its routes to Barming.Loose and Tovil Road.Trolleybuses replaced tramcars on two routes but deisel buses took over on the Tovil run.Until 1964 trolleybuses seemed secure but the decision to abandon the system was taken the same year with replacement diesel buses,

Southdown Motor Services can trace its history back to a pair of steam buses which operated between Pulborough and Worthing. However the company itself was formed in 1915 abandoning plans to call itself South Coast Motor Services (a similar name had been registered by a Folkestone operator). British Electric Traction took an early interest in the company as did Thomas Tilling. The original registered office was in Middle Street, Brighton and in 1916, a garage was built in Freshfield Road. The operating area of the company was bounded by Eastbourne, Portsmouth and the Sussex border.

Queen Mary 418 was delivered to Southdown in May 1964 as part of a batch of 25 convertible open toppers. This bus worked out of Brighton until 1978. In February 1989 it entered service with Stagecoach United Counties as a driver trainer and remained there for nine years. It was then sold to preservationists.

Collector's of the 'Queen Mary' range of Original Omnibus 1/76 scale replicas well welcome this brand new addition to the 'fleet'. It reproduces a restored vehicle in People's Provincial livery, featuring a photo-etched radiator, full passenger seating, glazed windows all round and authentic destination boards.

A real veteran is reproduced here to exact 1/76 scale: the BUT 9641T Trolleybus first introduced in 1948. This Limited Edition is of more than passing historical interest, reflecting in its unadorned side panels the austerity of the immediate post-War years. Features include authentic destination boards, trolley poles and passenger grab rail.

Maidstone Corporation had a history which could be traced back over 90 years, having operated trams from 1904.In 1990 a new bold blue and yellow colour image was introduced so that Boro'line Maidstone were conspicuous among red buses at Euston Station

Southdown Motor Services received 74 Plaxton Panorama bodied Leyland Leopard coaches between 1964 and 1968. Fleet number 1244 was delivered in 1968 and was devoid of the attractive dark green paintwork and chrome beading as previously produced in this range.

Sanders Coaches was started by Norman and Gladys Sanders in December 1975.From small beginings the fleet grew to over one hundred vehicles in 1998 the backbone being Bedfords in the early years. The fleet is now predominently DAF with some Mercs, Dennis, Setra and Volvos. Currently 90 vehicles are operated 

Guy Arab Utility Bus ' East Kent Road Car Co. Ltd.

This is one of three Arriva Kent & Sussex's Dennis Dart SLFs carrying the attractive green and cream 'Transweald' livery.Designed by Ray Stenning.

Universitybus was set up by the University of Hertfordshire in 1992 to provide student transport to the expanding university from the local areas.In 2004 the company was rebranded as 'UNO' with a fresh contemporary new livery to reflect the new wider market being served

Following a trial on behalf of the National Bus Company, in which five Metro buses were compared against other vehicle types, Maidstone & District bought ten of the MkII version in 1984. These were delivered in NBC's green and white livery, three of them, including 5204, received the smart but short lived green and cream colours introduced in 1997 under British Bus Group ownership. Although some first entered service at Tunbridge Wells, the Metro buses spent most of their lives in the Medway Towns, before being based in Maidstone for their last few months in 1999, by which time M & D had become ARRIVA Kent & Sussex Ltd.

Kings Coaches was founded by Frank A.King in 1953 when he purchased a 1947 Bedford OB Coach with 29 seat Duple body. Over the years the business grew steadily.Andrew Cousins joined the company and with his keen business eye the Company began to expand by 1986 had a fleet of seven vehicles. April 1997 saw the first delivery of a brand new Bova coach and the fleet became 100% Bova when the seventh vehicle arrived in 2004. Holiday and private tours have reached right across Europe.

Built by AEC at its Southall works , the first Q -Type double decker made its appearance in October 1932. Only 23 double deck Q's were built, withthe majority being bodied by Metro-Cammell and at a price tag of £1,225. Westcliff -on-Sea Motor Services was the only regular AEC customer to purchase a Q-Type double decker from new this bus had a 60 seat Metro-Cammell bodywork and was the only Q double deck in service not to carry a fleet number.

Arriva the Shires and Essex operates over 600 buses and Green Line coaches on services across the northern Home Counties and into London. The company is derived from significant parts of the formely Country Bus and Coach Division of London Transport and the United Counties Omnibus Company Ltd.

Trident 859 is one of a batch of 24 Dennis Tridents with Plaxton President bodywork delivered to Brighton 7 Hove in 2001.All this batch are painted in the Metro Line 5 livery of tangerine and cream and they can be seenon routes 5, 5a and 5b between Hangleton and Patcham or Hollingbury.A further batch of 12 arrived in 2002, two of which were in gold liveryfor the Queen's Jubilee.and the rest in standard red and cream colours.In 1999 Brighton & Hove started naming buses after local celebrities and people associated with the development of Brighton & Hove .Trident 859 is named "Thomas Tilling".

Brighton and hove 247 (X347 YGU) is one of a pair of Mini Pointer Darts purchased in 2003from Go-Ahead sister company Metrobus of Orpington to whom it was new in 2000.The 2 MODs are allocated to service 56 from Knoll Estate to Patcham on which they operate an hourly service.Although some of the routes passes narrow,residential streets it also serves important passenger objectives such as Hollingbury Asda superstore,Brighton Station,Old Steine and Churchill Square.These MPDs have good manoeuvrability within the residential areas and offer easy access for passengers with poor mobility or who are burdened with shopping.

This Southdown Bristol VRIII registered JWV 270W carries the blue double arrow sign, marking the awarding of the National Bus Company's 'Chairman's Award for Innovation' to Southdown.
Fleet number 270 is depicted operating on limited stop route 700 to Portsmouth.

Seen on "Excursion" the AEC Regal registered PPF 492 of Surrey Motors, fleet number 36 reminds us of an era when most people travelled on holiday or to the seaside by coach.

Southdown livery Guy Arab II fitted with a utility body. Fleet No. 484, Reg. GUF184, operating Route 31 to Brighton.

In this interesting Southdown model we find fleet number 423, registration number GUF 123 operating on route 13B to North Moulscombe. This caused EFE some consternation, until it was found that this East Sussex town name had been changed in the 1950’s to Moulescoomb!

Lincoln Corporation purchased the very first Leyland Titan in 1927 and continued to but titans until 1968.This Leyland PD2/41 was one of four 7'6" wide Titans with Roe 61 seat bodywork supplied to Lincoln Corporation in 1961.All four were delivered in the 'wrong' shade of green,utilising Leeds City Transport light green rather than Lincolns usual shade. Model length 108mm.

This Dennis Plaxton Pointer SLF Dart was one of 15 delivered to Brighton Blue Buses in May 1996, the first low buses in Brighton.Originally painted in a special 49 livery, in June 1997 Go-Ahead purchased Brighton Blue Bus and incorporated it with Brighton & Hove buses.204 was repainted in Metro Line 49 livery of dark blue and cream.In Feburary 2005 it was repainted into the new Brighton & Hove livery designed by Ray Stenning.

Maidstone & District Motor Services was formed in 1911, expanding rapidly after the Great Warwith many smaller operators being acquired in the 20's and 30's to give an area stretching from Gravesend and Faversham on the North Kent coast down to Rye and Bexhill in East Sussex. During WW2 this area was in the front line but vehicle losses were remarkably low, except on 27th Aug.1940 when Gillingham depot was bombed, destroying 51 buses.Between 1940 and 1945 , 141 new busesarrived, all five being double-deckers to Ministry of Supply 'Utility' specifications, 36 were on Guy Arab chassis , 22 on Daimler and 78 on Bristol.
