A new N gauge model of the WD austerity 2-8-0 heavy goods locomotive.
These engines were built for the British War Department during WW2, having been designed to use the minimum of essential materials. Construction time and cost was reduced by the use of simplified and fabricated components in place of castings wherever possible. Many of the locomotives were used to provide logistic support for allied forces in the middle east and later in Europe following the invasion of France. Once the European railways were re-establishing themselves the British locomotives returned to the UK and a small fleet passed into British Railways ownership.
This model of 90732 carries the name Vulcan and is painted in the BR plain black livery with early lion over wheel emblem.
