Formed in 1954, Silver Roadways Ltd was a subsidiary of Tate & Lyle Ltd.While a percentage of Silver Roadways' traffic was related to the sugar industry, it was licensed as a geneal haulage company to carry goods for other customers anywhere in the UK. The company was re-organised as Tate & Lyle Transport in the early 70's. Silver Roadways ran a mixed fleet of AEC, Foden, Scammel and Ford vehicles.Their Foden 8 wheelers with S18 cabs were particulary fine machines bought second hand from BRS.
