Leyland Octopus Platform Lorry with Vats & Cape Town Clock - Walter Southworth Ltd. In 1910 , 20 year old produce merchant Walter Southworth brought a horse and cart to take his products to Preston market. By 1918 he had acquired his first lorry. He officially set up a haulage company in 1923 building up a fleet of Leyland lorries. Adverse trading conditions in the 80's led to the Company's closure in April 1989
