The Phantom is probably one of the worlds best known fighter jets, in service with many air forces between the late 50's and mid 90's.

First flown in 1958 the Phantom became one of the most popular front-line jet fighters for both land and sea based operation. The RF-4E Phantom II was developed from the F-4E Phantom for reconnaissance duties and carried no weapons, its wing mounts carrying external fuel tanks. The main customer was the German Air Force with 88 planes and this kit includes the special "Black Panther" livery of 52 Reconnaissance Squadron, presented to the public in 1993 when the squadron was disbanded.
