Victory Models 1/72 HMS Vanguard Ship of the Line Wooden Kit 1300/04

HMS Vanguard (or HMS Bellerophon or HMS Elephant!!). This 74 gun Ship Of The Line was Nelson's Flagship at the famous Battle Of The Nile on 1st/2nd August 1798. Nelson's Vanguard was designed by Slade (of Victory fame) and was one of fourteen 3rd rate 74 gun ships which formed the Arrogant class. The ship was ordered on 9th December 1779 and the keel laid down at Deptford on 16th October 1782. During this time, Britain was not at war so her build went ahead very slowly, being launched on 6th March 1787.

This superbly detailed kit from Victory Models has been designed and researched using the latest information and technologies available, making the kit very easy to build with no sacrifice to even the finest detail. As with all Chris Watton designs, the kit features many of his innovations, like the pre-cut gun port patterns (eliminating the need to laboriously mark out and hand cut each port), proper 3D panelling detail, ultra-realistic chain plates, a fully detailed upper gun deck, photo-etched window frames which can be glazed, easy to follow step by step instructions and drawings and even an optional sail set complete with very detailed drawings

Victory Models 1/64 HMS Pegasus Swan Class Sloop Wooden Ship Kit 1300/05

H.M.S. Pegasus was the sixth vessel built of the Swan Class of ship rigged sloop, of which twenty five of the class were built from 1766 to 1780. Pegasus, as with the entire Swan class, was designed by Williams and her construction was ordered by the Admiralty on 1st August 1775 to be built at Sheerness Dockyard. The keel was laid in May 1775 and launched on 27th December 1776. The Swan class of 6th Rate sloops were unusually attractive for the class of vessel, with not only very sleek hull lines but also the unusual amount of decoration for the size of vessel. They were built just before the Admiralty issued orders that all vessels (especially lesser rates) were to have the minimal amount of decoration and carvings to save any unnecessary costs, due to the seemingly ever continuing war with France and other nations. There is little remaining about H.M.S. Pegasus's operational career, but from what little evidence there is, Pegasus was commissioned mainly for convoy escort and dispatch duty. Pegasus had a very short operation career, foundering off Newfoundland on 31st October 1777, her sister, H.M.S. Fly also foundered off Newfoundland some years later in 1802. The Swan Class measured 97' 7" on the gun deck and displaced 300 tons. They carried 125 officers and men and initially carried 14 guns (later 16) and 16 swivel guns.

The kit includes laser cut frames for keel & bulkheads, exotic wood strip for hull planking, and all new photoetched parts (which include footrope stirrups, hammock cranes, oars and other boat fittings, complete stunsail boom fittings, decoration, etc.), . Also included is the wooden deck planking, masts and spars,?resin and wooden fittings. The instruction booklet is very detailed, taking you through every step of construction.

Amati 1/65 Nina Caravel of Christopher Columbus Circa: 1492 Wooden Ship Kit 1411

This little ship formed part of the fleet commanded by Christopher Columbus for his voyage of discovery in 1492. She was originally named "Santa Clara" but was nicknamed and became widely known as "Nina". There are not many contemporary evidences on the two caravels, except for the few oblique references that can be found in a resume of Columbus Journal. Nevertheless two things are pretty sure: both ships belonged to the Pinzon family and at the very beginning both of them had lateen sails. Then during the first stop at the Canary Island the Pinta replaced its lateen sails with square sails. This operation, together with the substitution of the mast delayed the departure of four weeks. Columbus always referred to Ni a and Pinta as the Caravels

Amati 1/60 Mayflower Wooden Boat Kit 1413

The Mayflower was the famous ship that transported the English Separatists, better known as the Pilgrims, from Southampton to Cape Cod Bay where they founded the city of New Plymouth in 1620. The vessel left England in September and after a gruelling 66-day journey marked by disease, which claimed two lives, the ship dropped anchor inside the hook tip of Cape Cod (Provincetown Harbor) in November. The Mayflower was originally destined for the mouth of the Hudson River, near present-day New York City, at the northern edge of England's Virginia colony, which itself was established with the 1607 Jamestown Settlement. However, the Mayflower went off course as the winter approached, and remained in Cape Cod Bay. In March of 1621 all surviving passengers, who had inhabited the ship during the winter, moved ashore at Plymouth, and in April, the Mayflower, a privately commissioned vessel, returned to England.

The kit includes laser cut frames for keel & bulkheads, and exotic wood strip for hull planking. Amati 1/70 Hannah 1775 American Schooner 1442

The Schooner Hannah was the first armed American naval vessel of the American Revolution and is claimed to be the founding vessel of the United States Navy. She was owned by John Glover's in-laws of Marblehead, Massachusetts and was named for his wife, Hannah Glover. The crew was drawn largely from the town of Marblehead. The schooner was hired into the service of the American Continental Army by General George Washington. Washington commissioned Nicolson Broughton to command the Hannah on September 2, 1775 and ordered the vessel to cruise against the enemy. Hannah set sail from the harbor of Beverly, Massachusetts on September 5, 1775, but fled to the protection of the harbor of Gloucester, Massachusetts two days later under the pursuit of HMS Lively and a second British vessel. Leaving Gloucester Harbor, Hannah captured the British Sloop Unity.

Amati 1/65 Dominica 1812 British Armed Schooner 1443

On the 5th August, off the southern coast of the United States, the British 14-gun-schooner Dominica was attacked by the Franco-American privateer-schooner Decatur. The Decatur gradually closed with the Dominica, and made an attempt to board, but was repulsed. After a second attempt the Decatur ran her jib-boom through the Dominica's main sail, and was then boarded by the French. A sanguinary conflict ensued; in which lieutenant Barrett , refused to surrender, and was killed. The Decatur was captured by a privateer, certainly, but under circumstances, that reflected an honour rather than a disgrace upon the British character.
