Corgi 1/76 New Routemaster Borris Bus, London United, 10 King's Cross OM46611B
Originally referred to as the New Bus for London, The New Routemaster is a hybrid diesel-electric bus operated in London, England. A re-imagined version of the original Routemaster design, the New Routmaster features a ‘hop-on hop-off’ rear platform, updated to meet the requirements for modern use. The new design came about after the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, suggested that he would hold a competition to design the new Routemaster if he was elected mayor in 2008. Having won the election, the competition began with the two winners Foster and Partners and Aston Martin sharing the cash prize of £25,000. The first Wrightbus developed ‘Borisbus’ entered service on 27th February 2012 and currently operates on many routes around London, including the London United operated Route 10 between Hammersmith and Kings Cross seen here.
