Max started his racing career in 2000 grass track racing in a 1000cc Mini.He was 14 years old.Growing up in a racing enviroment his father having raced a Mini 7 in the Mini 7 Racing Club from 1994.Max competed in his first race in 2002 at Oulton Park, just three days after his sixteenth birthday.his grass track racing was good grounding for a circuit racer as he took his first win at Rockingham in the winter season .In this first year he became Novice Champion and his success continued.
