During WWII, the Japanese Army used the type 97 medium tank as a base, and fitted it with a 75mm gun in a newly designed open top superstructure, to create the Type 1 Self- Propelled Gun. From 1943 to the end of the war approximately 140 were made and were assigned to the mobile artillery regiments of tank divisions. The type 1 Self-Propelled gun was evaluated as the only vehicle that could defeat American tanks during the fighting in The Philippines Set includes 2 soldier figures in a relaxed position and 2 officers wearing helmets. The 4 soldier figures are products of Finemold. Decals such as insignias are included.
