Revell 1/25 Peterbuilt Wrecker (07541)
They call themselves The Professionals, the men from Stepp's Towing Service in Tampa, Florida. With their light and heavy recovery vehicles, known in the USA as wreckers or tow trucks, chief Todd Stepp's men do their duty around the clock. The company has shops all over the hugh city area of Tampa, with most of them located in the proximity of busy highways. In addition to well known makes, such as Ford, GMC and Kenworth, the vehicle fleet includes also trucks by Peterbilt. A very special Peterbilt is the four-axle wrecker with Challenger crane attachment from th 8808 series. The entire vehicle was designed and built to Todd Stepp's very own specification. The Pete 379 measures more than 11 m in length and has many special features, including a lifting axle which adjusts to the towed load. The two-piece telescopic crane with a slewing range of 220 degrees, has a load capacity of 50 ton. Two hydraulically operated outrigger legs behind the sleeping cabin ensure the poerational support of the wrecker. The entire outfit of this Peterbilt is typical of trucks in the USA. Wrecker meetings take place at different locations every year when prizes are awarded for the best and most attractive vehicle. The Peterbilt wrecker of Stepp's Towing Services is always among them.
