Dapol OO BR Class 22 D6356 North British Type 2 B-B Diesel Hydraulic Locomotive Split Headcode Boxes BR Plain Green 4D-012-004

Dapol OO Gauge 4D-012-004 BR D6356 Class 22 North British Type 2 Diesel Hydraulic Locomotive Split Headcode Boxes BR Plain Green (no warning panels)

The North British 'baby warships' did not enjoy the highest profile of the Western regions' hydraulics, but performed their duties away from the limelight throughout the 1960s. This new, high specification model of the BR class 22 completes one of the missing links in the hydraulic fleet.

The Dapol model represents the later body style with split headcode boxes and will be powered by a flywheel drive mechanism with Dapols' smooth running 'super-creep' motor and 40:1 drive ratio, which has provided excellent slow-speed performance in Dapols' recent N gauge locomotives. The chassis incorporates directional lighting, a 21-pin DCC decoder socket and space for a sound system speaker has been designed into the fuel tank.

Bachmann Branchline OO Gauge 32-440 BR D5135 Class 24/1 Bo-Bo Diesel Locomotive Model BR Plain Green
New model announced 2013.

When British Railways decided on a 4-character headcode system the diesel locomotive designs being built needed to be revised to accomodate the 4-character display instead of the steam-era disc headcode array. The Derby type 2 design, later class 24, was equiped with a headcode box fitted into the roof end dome of the cab roof. The design revision included other internal equipment changes, creating the first sub-class of 24/1. This style of cab end was continued when the more powerful engine was fitted, creating class 25, but later revised with side fairings over roof-mounted air horns for the 25/1 and subsequent 25s.
This version of the 24 has not been produced previously and provides a further visual variat of the popular and useful Derby type 2.

Bachmanns 24 and 25 models have a heavy diecast chassis and central motor drive to both bogies, with flywheels to maintain smooth running.
D5135 is painted in the original all-over green livery with late crest.

Era 5. DCC and Sound ready, 21 pin decoder required for DCC operation, sound decoder and speaker required for sound operation. Directional lighting. Internal (cab) lighting. Length 210mm.

Bachmann OO BR 25043 Class 25/1 Bo-Bo Diesel Green Full Yellow Ends 32-331
The Derby type 2s spread rapidly across the BR network, displacing steam locomotives from secondary passenger and goods duties. These locomotives developed their own following later in their lives as they were in turn replaced.
25043 represents the colourful change period between the BR green and blue livery during the early 1970s. This locomotive has received full yellow ends, new TOPS number and blue-painted grille cover panels, but retains the green livery and lion & wheel crest. This locomotive has the early style of bodyshell, characterised by the large number of grilles in the sides. Bachmanns Bo-Bo drive mechanism is one of the best in the business, the centrally mounted motor drives all four axles while the heavy diecast chassis ensures this 25 will pull long trains with ease.

Bachmann Branchline 32-787 BR D6714 Class 37/0 Co-Co Diesel Locomotive BR Plain Green Split Headcode Boxes.

This model recraetes EE Type 3 (class 37) locomotive D6714 in as-built condition, before the addition of warning panels to the nose ends. Body, bonnet and roof hatches, panels, sand box fillers and hand/foot recesses are crisply moulded with fine joint lines. The EE type 4, later class 40, locomotives were built in several batches with detail changes as British railways refined it's modernisation plans. D338 was one of a batch built with 'split' headcode boxes to display the 4-character train headcode in place of the basic, steam-era train description discs, while retaining the communicating doors in the nose end.
A superb Bachmann model of the Class 40's that were the first really successful large batch of diesel locomotives running in Britain.

Hornby OO BR E5001 Class 71 Southern Region Bo-Bo Electric Locomotive BR Green R3373
Hornby OO R3373 BR Class 71 E5001 BR Green

British Railways class 71 locomotives were built to provide electric locomotives for goods and non-electric (eg parcels) services across the third rail electrified areas of the former Southern Railway. Power was collected from the third rail aith an auxiliary pantograph fitted for use in yards, where the third  rail would be a hazard for shunting staff and a flywheel booster set was fitted to provide power while negotiating gaps in the third rail.
While the cass 71s were a successful design a pure-electric locomotive is restricted to routes with electric power available. A new design of electric locomotive (later class 73) equiped with a low-power auxiliary diesel engine provided a far more flexible locomotive able to work away from the third rail for extended periods. The class 71s locomotives were withdrawn from service en-bloc at the end of 1977. One example, E5001, was retained for presevation as part of the national collection.

Dapol OO BR E6039 Class 73 Electro-Diesel Early Blue with Small Warning Panels 4D-006-005
British Railways Southern region required a small fleet of electric locomotives to haul special passenger, parcels and goods trains over the sections of the network equiped with third-rail electrification. It was quickly realised some kind of auxiliary power would be required for shunting in sidings where electrification was not practical. The most successful solution was the class 73 electro-diesel, a locomotive delivering up to 1,400bhp on electric power but carrying a 600bhp diesel engine for use away from the 'third rail'.

This model carries the intermediate early blue livery with added small yellow warning panels and corporate era double arrows logos.

Dapol OO 4D-006-005S BR Class 73 E6039 Early Blue Small Warning Panles & Double Arrows Logos DCC & SOUND Fitted

Laser scanned accuracy
See-through etched main bodyside and roof grills
DCC & SOUND fitted.
Sprung buffers
NEM coupler pockets

Bachmann OO BR E3095 Type AL5 Class 85 Electric Locomotive Electric Blue Single Pantograph Small Warning Panels 31-679

Bachmann Branchline 31-679 Type AL5 Electric E3095 BR Electric Blue Small Yellow Panel

One of the early designs of 25kV electric locomotives for the West Coast mainline electrification the AL5 type was built by BR works at Doncaster. Later calssified 85 under the TOPS system these were robust and reliable locomotives which had long service lives. Surviving the initial purge of less satisfactory types when the 'second generation' class 87s were built class 85s could still be found in charge of West Coast expresses until the late 1980s.
One of the classic British electric locomotives the 85 will be at home alongside the class 86, 87 and 90 locomotives available from Hornby and Heljan. Hopefully a model of the equally long-lived English Electric AL1/class 81 will follow and maybe the less successful 82, 83 and 84 classes to complete the fleet.

Please note these models have been delivered as single pantograph locomotives, not twin pans as shown in the Bachmann catalogue photographs.

Bachmann OO BR Class 101 2 Car DMU Green with Speed Whiskers 32-285

The Met-Cam class 101 diesel multiple units were among the most successful and long lived designs of the first generation types. The design was distinctivly rounded, quite unlike the body profile used by other builders, and the class could be seen all over the BR network in several different formations.

This is a new and highly detailed model, matching the standards set by the Bachmann 105 and 108 units in recent years. One truck is driven using a motor mostly hidden within the guards' office at the inner end of the motor car, with sufficient power to allow an extra car to be hauled when necessary.

This model will be finished in the BR DMU green livery with the stylish speed whisker markings on the cab fronts.

Built between 1959 and 1961 at Pressed Steels' Linwood Works in Scotland the class 117 DMUs were initially allocated to British Railways Western Region. The units were formed of Driving Motor Brake Second (DMBS), Trailer Composite with Lavatory (TCL) and a Driving Motor Second (DMS) cars with 42 each of the DMBS and DMS motor cars built along with 39 trailers, allowing a float of motor cars for maintenance. Used predominantly as 3-car units, initial workings were on suburban services out of London Paddington and in Cornwall. When additional capacity was required the units coupld be coupled together and coupled to other types of unit using the BR standard Blue Square multiple unit control system, with all power units under control of the driver in the leading cab. The Blue Square system was fitted to the class 101 and 108 units also produced by Bachmann.
After many years of service on the Western Region the class 117 units were included in the refurbishment programme which saw most of the fleet upgraded between 1974 and 1984. A number of refurbished unit moved away from the Western region to replace older designs in other parts of the country. Some units travelling as far as Scotland. Following the sectorisation or British Rail operations the reamining London based units were allocated to the Network South East buiness sector until displaced by the new 'Networker Turbo' class 165/6 DMUs. Units still in gereally good condition were reallocated to the Provincial Services business, later named Regional Railways.
The first units were retired in 1995 and many later withdrawn units were purchased for heritage railways.

This set is painted in the original British Railways DMU green livery with the stylish speed whisker lines.

Bachmann OO BR Class 121 Single Car Diesel Multiple Unit BR Green with Speed Whiskers 35-525

Bachmann Branchline OO 36-525 BR Class 121 Single Car DMU BR Green Speed Whiskers
Price to be advised.
We are taking pre-orders for this new DMU unit from Bachmann. Please use the 'Click and Collect' payment option from the drop-down menu of the payments screen, we will contact you to advise our sell price and arrange payment when the trains are due to be released.

Derived from the Pressed Steel class 117 units the single car class 121 unit was a Driving Motor Brake Second (DMBS) car with a second driving cab at what would otherwise be the inner or luggage van end. 16 cars were built, primarily for the Western region, operating a number of branch lines along the Thames valley, in the Bristol area and throughout Devon and Cornwall. A number of single-cab trailer cars were also built, using the same bodyshell as the class 117 DMS, which allowed the train capacity to be increased when needed. The class 121 units featured the standard BR Blue Square multiple control system, so class 121 cars could be added to other DMU trains. A DMBS could be used as a stand in for a motor car on a three-car set and in later years the trailers were often paired with motor cars from other DMU classes to make 2-car units.
The class 121 units were put through the refurbishment programme in the early 1980s, receiving new interiors and flourescent lighting along with the brighter blue and grey livery. Cars operating in the London and Thames Valley areas joined Network South East on sectorisation, while withdrawn cars were often put to new uses for driver training and route learning, video infrastructure surveying and Sandite spraying (Sandite is an adhesion-improving substance). Two units are still in service with Chiltern Railways, one with Network rail and eight have been preserved.

This car is painted in the original British Railways DMU green livery with the stylish speed whisker lines.

Heljan OO BR M55987 Class 128 Gloucester Diesel Parcels Multiple Unit Green with Speed Whiskers 8990

A highly detailed model of Gloucester RCW built BR class 128 diesel parcels unit M55987 painted in the early BR multiple unit green livery with speed whisker stripes on the cab ends. These cars built for the Midand region services did not have end gangways, allowing a central four-character headcode box to be fitted.

The GWR built two of their streamlined diesel railcars for express parcels services in the London and Reading areas.
When the new BR standard design units were built these Gloucester single units were built for the same express parcels services. Allocated to the Western and Midland regions the parcels units could be operated alone, coupled in multiple with other DMUs, including passenger-carrying units. Fitted with 2 Leyland Albion engines of 230bhp a single car could also haul a trailing load of up to 64 tons. Often one bogie van (BG or GUV, loaded about 40 tons) was hauled, with capacity for an extra 4-wheel van when needed.

Heljan OO BR SC79970 Park Royal 4-wheel Railbus Car Green with Speed Whiskers 8750

Heljan OO BR SC79970 Park Royal 4-wheel Railbus Car Green with Speed Whiskers 8750
British Railways experimented with 4-wheeled railbus cars from a number of builders in the late 1950s. The German railways had achieved great success with these lightweight, fuel efficient railcars, providing efficient passenger service on remote branch lines with a minimum crew. The single car required a driver and guard, who could also act as conductor, collecting fares. This allowed station staffing to be reduced, trying to bring the costs back in line with the takings.

This model replicates the railbus design supplied by the Park Royal company which had previously been invovled with the development of the GWR railcars and later built DMUs.

Heljan have designed the drive mechanism for the railbus very carefully, with the chassis and motor fitting below the window line, allowing the interior to be modelled and passenger figures to be added if required. The model is supplied with bufferbeam details pre-instaled.

Antics price includes mainland UK delivery.

Bachmann OO BR D8011 English Electric Type 1 Class 20 Bo-Bo Diesel Locomotive BR Green Small warning Panels Disc Headcode 32-027B

Bachmann Branchline OO Gauge 32-027B BR D8011 EE Type 1 Class 20 Bo-Bo Diesel Locomotive BR Green Small Warning Panels Disc Headcode.

British Railways proposed to test diesel locomotives through a 'pilot scheme' of locomotives specified to perform similarly to steam engines. The 'type 1' specification called for a locomotive up to 1000bhp intended to replace 0-6-0 types in local goods service. The end-cabbed English Electric response used an 8 cylinder version of the well developed and reliable SVT engine and was by far the most successful type 1 design.

This Bachmann model features a detailed bodyshell finished in the British Railways green livery, which some of the class 20s carried until 1980 with the steam-era headcode discs carried by these early diesel locomotives. The model is driven by a centrally mounted motor and flywheel set powering all four axles via driveshafts, with smooth running and excellent hauling capabilities.

DCC Ready. 21 pin decoder required for DCC operation.

Dapol OO Gauge 4D-012-007 BR D6339 Class 22 North British Type 2 Diesel Hydraulic Split Headcode Boxes BR Green Small Yellow Warning Panels Serif Font Lettering

Hornby OO SR 2-BIL 2-car Electric Multiple Unit Train Southern Green R3161A

Hornby OO SR 2-BIL 2-car Electric Multiple Unit Train Southern Green R3161A
The classic designed Southern 2-BIL first made its appearance on the Southern Railway in 1935. Over the years the 152 twin car units saw stalwart service both with Southern Railway and BR but were eventually retired in 1969. The twin car 2-BIL (BI =2 and L =Lavatories) had a maximum speed of 60mph and collected their power from a third rail.

The Hornby model not only captures the shape and style of these much loved units but they have also been designed so that they can travel at a scale speed.

This model is painted in the Southern Railway green livery, a deeper shade than later used by British Railways. The unit represented in this pack is SR No. 2114 formed of MBTL motor car 10680 and DTCL composite trailer car 12147, part of the 4th batch built in 1938 for service on the London Waterloo to Reading route.
