Developed from the class 44 design these later locomotives remained in service until the 1980s, hauling express passenger trains on secondary and cross-country routes.

The Bachmann model features a detailed bodyshell, carefully researched to capture the look and appearance of the locomotives. Bachmanns' drive mechanism features a heavy diecast chassis, ideal for hauling heavy goods trains, and a central motor driving both bogies.

This model of D27 incorporates the prototypes split headcode box ends and is painted in the BR green livery of the 1960s.

Equiped with an on-board DCC controlled sound system.
