Hornby OO R6623 BR Horse Box W538W ex-GWR Design BR Maroon
A detailed model of the GWR horse box design of the 1930s complete with interior detailing of the grooms' compartment and wood-centred wheels.
Horse box number W538W painted in British Railways crimson livery marked for use on racehorse traffic only and return to Swindon. A number of horse boxes were allocated for the transport of pedigree cattle and calves during the 1950s, the lettering helped prevent the vehicles used for cattle being sent for racehorse use. Vehicles reserved for specific traffic were often held at Swindon, where their use could be monitored and controlled.
