Hornby Railways R6737 OO Gauge BR ex-SR Maunsell Design Cattle Wagon
Richard Maunsell as chief engineer and Lionel Lynes as carriage and wagon superintendent produced a range of throughly modern wagons for the SE&CR and Southern railways. This cattle wagon design was little changed throughout its' life and the similarity of the later British Railways design is evident. Hornby are producing both the Maunsell and Bulleid designs, these earlier wagons being identified by planked ends and centrally pivoted hand brake levers.
Cattle wagons travelled widely across the British rail network, so the added variety of this Southern wagon is a welcome addition to the range of highly detailed wagons produced by Hornby in recent years.
