This half-tracked vehicle was built by the Fahrzeug und Motorenwerken (FAMO) in Breslau as a heavy tractor between 1939 and 1944. About 2,500 of these vehicles, heaviest tractors in the German army, were built. For recovering vehicles such as the Tiger tank the earth spade at the rear was dug in the ground to give the Sd. Kfz. 9 the necessary traction. | |
