The '56 Ford Thunderbird reflects the search for style and elegance in a state-of-the-art two-seater. This car, which very soon became a highly sought-after collector's item, caught the eye on account of its inimitable lines, making it one of the most exciting American car creations of the decade. Film stars and VIPs of all kinds liked to "adorn themselves" with the Thunderbird which was often custom-painted according to their personal taste. Unrivalled then and now and fully in keeping with the times was the pink-painted version that was driven by the world-famous US film star Marilyn Monroe. The powerful V8 engine of the Thunderbird delivered the 202 hp (148 kW) that enabled the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 10 seconds.
