Revell 1/18 Ford Taunus 17 M Badewanne Blue (08818)
The 17 M with its American inspired bodywork and elongated belt line was launched at the
end of 1957. Surprisingly, a successor appeared in October 1960, for the occasion of the
works 30th anniversary in Cologne, and it was a totally new version. The second generation
(P 3) 17 M was advertised by Ford with the slogan "Linie der Vernunft" (the logical line).
It had far more flowing lines: on the down-swept front there was a bumper bar that merged
with the side indicators, the windscreen had a convex curve and, quite unlike its
predecessor 17 M (P 2), the rear mudguards were rounded off at the back. This striking
rounded shape, which was totally different from that of its predecessor and earned it the
nickname "Bath Tub", gave it an extremely low drag coefficient of 0.4 cw.
