Hornby R3180 00 Gauge Tarmac Sentinel 4w 0-4-0 Industrial Shunting Diesel Engine Weathered Finish
The large fleet of small industrial shunting engines has always lacked a good, detailed model. Hornby have made a good choice of prototype with this 4-wheel Sentinel diesel locomotive, a type which proved popular with industrial users, many large organisations operating sizable fleets.
Due to the consideration by the designers for ease of operation and safety for the crew Sentinels have remained in service until recent years, often only being replaced by newer locomotives from Sentinels' successors developed from the Sentinel design. Many Sentinels have since found new homes on heritage railways.
This model is painted in the green livery as a locomotive operated by aggregates and construction firm Tarmac.
This model is DCC Ready. Hornby have a special 4-pin decoder unit for these models available from their customer care department. Tel. 01843 233525. The service sheet lists part X9659 for the decoder.
Please note that we are not able to supply a DCC decoder for this locomotive. Hornby Hobbies customer care department have told us that a decoder is available to customers, but is not supplied to retailers.
